Good news from Cyprus/India

A pair of SIPA students have sent word that they were successfully evacuated from Lebanon.

Ben Ryan, whose blog posts you've been reading over at the Summer Switchboard noted in an e-mail to TMP's editors that instead of riding the "Orient Queen" cruise ship that's been reported on in the media, "We rode freight class on a Norwegian cargo ship.  Apparently there was a "mixup." I haven't slept, and my hands are still caked with sea salt despite finally showering."

We're happy to see that Ben hasn't lost his sense of humor despite his travails, and that his classmate Meena Jaganath, also a first year MIA who was interning in SIPA, made it out of the country her own way.  She writes "I left Lebanon late on Saturday overland via Damascus and ended up in Amman. I only stayed there 2 days and now I'm in Hyderabad, India...."  Meena says that she will start blogging on her own soon, and we look forward to it.

I hope things for other SIPA students in various parts of the region are turning out as well as they appear to have for these two.
